The Midleton Very Rare series is Irish Whiskey’s most coveted and sought after collection. Since 1984, a new expression has been released every year showcasing the skill and craftsmanship of the tenured master Distiller. In this case, we have the OG, Barry Crockett. The master distiller becomes directly involved in all aspects of the production and maturation process, choosing a select number of casks, and blending to the point of perfection. Only a limited amount is releases with each year striving to be better than the last. A blend of pot still and grain whiskey, aged from 12 to 25 years in ex-bourbon barrels. Each year there are only a limited number of casks used, around 50 or fewer, hence the Very Rare part! As the blend is changed every year and is dependent of the personal vison of the Master Distiller, no two years’ expressions are ever the same.
This bottling was aged to perfection and bottled in 2000.
Each bottle is numbered individually and signed by the master distiller Barry Crockett
